We're over halfway through the year, so I thought I would check in to see how your Vero Beach and Sebastian bucket list adventures were coming along! I know our family will be checking off a few places this fall and winter, especially as the weather starts to cool down. Which adventure in Indian River County has been your favorite so far? 1. Stroll through McKee Botanical Garden. Don't miss the Children's Garden, which includes a splash pad!
2. Peruse Vero Beach Museum of Art. The ArtZone provides a place for children to play and explore.
3. Learn more about our ecosystem at Environmental Learning Center.
4. Explore the Indian River Lagoon by paddleboard, kayak, or boat.
5. Relax at one of our beautiful beaches, such as Jaycee Beach.
6. Fish, swim, or surf at Sebastian Inlet State Park. This is the perfect spot for young kids since there is shallow water and no rough waves on the lagoon side.
7. Go bird watching at Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge. They recently celebrated their 120th anniversary!
8. Take a nature walk at Indian River Lagoon Greenway.
9. See a show at Riverside Theatre or Vero Beach Theatre Guild.
10. Slide into the pool at North County or Gifford Aquatic Centers.
11. Go for a bike ride on the Historic Jungle Trail.
12. Check out a book and the programming at a branch of the Indian River County Library System.
13. Pick your own fruit at Schacht Groves or Countryside Family Farms.
14. Take and leave a book at a Little Free Library.
15. Shop at the oceanside Vero Beach Farmer's Market.
16. Volunteer at a local nonprofit organization. Shining Light Garden is a great one to bring the family to (call ahead)!
17. Be mesmerized by a Ballet Vero Beach performance.
18. Go to a local park. Check out my guide to Vero Beach and Sebastian parks and playgrounds.
19. Get a strike at Vero Bowl. (Don't forget to sign up for Kids Bowl Free this summer!)
20. Play at the Pocket Change Arcade in the Indian River Mall.
21. Paint pottery at Painted Frog.
22. Practice your golf swing - even if Big Shots or Safari Mini Golf is more your speed.
23. See the animals at Laporte Farms.
