"...To our friends at storytime, we wave hello like this." 🎶

We have been coming to the Vero Beach Museum of Art story time since my son was 18 months old. Now, I get to experience it again with my daughter (2.5).

Storytime consists of themed stories and songs that usually tie into the museum's exhibitions. Fun props like egg shakers and colored scarves are also incorporated, drawing the attention of even the most active kids. The nice thing about this storytime is that your child is not expected to sit perfectly still the whole time. I know that's a reservation a lot of parents with young kids have about attending storytime. The leader is a retired kindergarten teacher, so she's very patient!

After storytime, there is a simple craft available, and kids have free play time in the ArtZone. Some of my daughter's favorite features of the ArtZone are the chalk wall, the light table, and the colorful gel tiles.

After storytime is over, we also enjoy walking around the sculpture garden outside. When the weather is nice, it's a great place to stop and have a snack.

If your child has aged out of storytime, there are many available times to go play in the ArtZone - just check our events calendar! It's a great option when it's rainy or just too hot outside.

Museum Stories is every Wednesday morning at VBMA. There is a time for 0 - 24 month-olds from 9:30 - 10:30 am and a time for 2 - 4 year-olds from 10:30 - 11:30 am. Registration is required and can be completed online. Museum Stories is $5 per family or free for those with a VBMA membership.
