Hurricane season begins June 1st and goes through November 30th. We've put together some resources for you to help keep your family safe in case a hurricane or tropical storm is heading toward Indian River County. 

In the event of a hurricane watch, we encourage you to follow local Indian River County sites for updates and be prepared for the worst.

Tropical Depression: up to 39 mph winds

Tropical Storm: 39 - 73 mph winds 

Category 1: 74-95 mph winds

Category 2: 86-110 mph winds

Category 3: 111-130 mph winds*

Category 4:131-155 mph winds*

Category 5: 156 mph or higher winds*

*Categories 3, 4, and 5 are identified as major hurricanes.
