City of Vero Beach Recreation Department 2024 Summer Camps

The City of Vero Beach Recreation Department will offer summer camps for children 6 - 12 years old. If registering a 6-year-old child, please bring a birth certificate for proof of age. Our goal is to provide a quality safe, secure, affordable, and fun environment for all. Camps offer an opportunity for youth to make new friends, make long-lasting memories, and spend their summer participating in recreational and educational programs. Two camps will be offered: Sports/Aquatics Camp and Aerial Antics Camp.
Registration will begin Monday, March 4, 2024 at Leisure Square. Both summer camps will run nine (one-week) sessions from June 3, 2024 – August 2, 2024. Camp hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with activities from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. Camp cost per week is $95 for city residents and $130 for non-city residents. Please note: A $15 deposit is required upfront for each week the child is registered to attend. The last week that the child is registered to attend is also to be paid upfront.
SPORTS / AQUATICS CAMP AT LEISURE SQUARE
A full-day summer program where kids will play all of their favorite sports at one camp. The emphasis is on a variety of sports and recreational activities for youth ages 6 - 12 including volleyball, tennis, kickball, football & basketball. Children learn fundamental skills in a fun and supportive environment that emphasizes character development, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Weekly trips and activities will include bowling, movies, skating, and swimming. Special activities will include field day events, games and out-of-county trips.
AERIAL ANTICS CAMP AT LEISURE SQUARE
We strongly recommend that students attend 9 weeks to gain the full benefits of this camp. This circus-based summer camp is now in its 50th year! Aerial Antics camp trains boys and girls ages 6 - 12 for a performance in the Aerial Antics Youth Circus at the end of the summer. Instruction areas include gymnastics, tumbling, circus aerial, and dance. Additional weekly camp activities include swimming, movies, arts & crafts, games, and off-site activities such as bowling and skating.
The Aerial Antics Youth Circus Performance dates will be August 1, 2, and 3, 2024 at Saint Edwards School! Come one, come all, and help us celebrate 50 years of Aerial Antics!
STAFF TRAINING
All camp staff are Recreation trained, Level 2 background screened, and certified in CPR and First Aid. In addition, Aerial Antics Staff are USA Gymnastics Safety Certified.
LUNCH
Lunch is provided for the 9 weeks of Aerial Antics and Sports/Aquatics Camp and is included in the weekly fee. No extended day program will be offered.
JUNIOR STAFF VOLUNTEERS
Junior Staff volunteers serve as role models, help mentor campers, and lead basic camp activities. Colleges, work environments, clubs, and social groups require effective leadership to succeed. Our Junior Staff program is designed to provide valuable experience for mature teens in all areas of recreation including performing arts, guidance, sports, and safety. The Junior Staff Volunteers will assist Leisure Square specialty summer camp counselors in one of 2 specialty camps. You must be 13, 14, or 15 years old to participate.
