Are you ready to get all the extra candy out of the house before your kids (or, let's be honest, you) have a total sugar overload? Do you have pumpkins that are just going to rot on your porch? We have a solution! Here are three places in Indian River County that are accepting donations of candy or pumpkins, so that you can get rid of those leftovers while also giving to worthy causes.

Candy

Little Birthday Angels

Little Birthday Angels, which celebrates homeless children's birthdays, is accepting candy donations for use in their Birthday Bags. Donations go in the drop box located next to JCPenney, just inside entrance three of the Indian River Mall. This drop box is permanent, and you can donate anytime. For more information, call or text Heather at (772) 925-9352.

Treats for Troops

The Nolan Group of Exp Realty is collecting candy to send to our troops deployed overseas. Donations can be dropped off at their Vero Beach office (601 21st Street Suite 100 in the Bank of America Building). The deadline for drop off is November 17th at 5 p.m. You can contact them for more information at (772) 205-2662.

Pumpkins

Sarah's Cow Sanctuary

This cow sanctuary in Fellsmere, FL accepts pumpkin donations to feed their cows. Cows enjoy pumpkins, and they are good for them too! Who knew? For the safety of the cows, pumpkins cannot have paint or coloring on them. Message the sanctuary on Facebook or text/call Cindy at (772) 538-6496 to arrange the drop-off or pickup of your pumpkins.
